French Immersion programs at Foothills School Division offer an amazing opportunity for children K-12 to enhance their reading, writing, speaking and math skills in a fun and engaging way. The division has provided the choice of French Immersion since 2001, and the program is currently available at École Percy Pegler, École Okotoks Junior High, and École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School | Alberta High School of Fine Arts in Okotoks and at École Joe Clark, École Senator Riley Middle School, and École Secondaire Highwood High School in High River.

Imagine your child not only learning to read and write in English but also mastering these skills in French!  Imagine your child applying for a job in the future as 1 of hundreds of applicants, but their resume jumps to the top of the list because they are bilingual!

 French Immersion students often outperform their peers because learning a second language strengthens the brain's executive functions, which are crucial for reading comprehension and critical thinking. Moreover, the exciting environment of French Immersion encourages students to think creatively and solve problems in innovative ways, which are essential skills in today's fast-paced world.  The process of learning math in a second language requires students to understand and apply mathematical concepts more deeply. This dual-language learning process helps to develop a more flexible and analytical mindset.  Plus, the joy of learning a new language and culture adds an exciting dimension to their school experience!
