Summer School is a place for students to

Summer school is offered annually to students who want to:
- participate in new opportunities
- take a course that doesn’t fit in their timetables during the school year
- understand high school learning and expectations
- take Math 15 to prepare for Math 10C
- participate in an alternative physical education setting
- have a flexible learning schedule to accommodate athletics, arts, or travel commitments during the regular school year.
Any credits earned through our Summer School program are fully transferable and count toward a student’s high school diploma, regardless of their home school division.
Registration
Registration opens in April 15, 2026
Registration closes May 30, 2026
We will not accept registrations after 4pm on the closing day.
For Existing FSD Students:
- Already registered with Edsembli? Parents can Log into the Edsembli Family Portal.
- Select 'Register New Student' under New Registrations
- Select "FSD Summer School" from dropdown of school.
- Select your course for Summer School
For Students New to FSD:
- Parents, visit our online registration portal to create a new Edsembli account.
- Click "Create Account". Once created, you will receive an activation email. You must activate your account to proceed.
- Upon login, you will be directed to a registration landing page, select "FSD Summer School" from the drop-down list. Click "Open" to complete the registration form. You must complete a form for each of your children participating in Summer School.
- Complete all the fields and where possible, upload necessary documents.
- Click the "Submit" button at the top right of the screen. You will have the option to download a PDF of your completed form.
- Your registration is now complete.

Please Note:
** denotes the 30 level courses that will have a Diploma Exam scheduled by Alberta Education and Childcare within the timeframe of August 4 to August 12, 2026. Diploma exams are hosted by FSD on the scheduled dates (diploma schedule).

How Summer School Works

Summer school is online | Mornings Coursework on Moodle with online lessons with teachers Afternoons Individual/small group sessions | In-person drop-in sessions are offered at the Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks for local students | Class is daily Monday to Friday | Between class time and independent coursework, students will work 5 hours a day |
Setting up students for success
- Course materials will be accessible and begin at 8am on the first day of school.
- Registrants will be sent a welcome email from the course teacher a week prior to school starting.
- Students will require:
Time commitment for learning each day; travel or employment during scheduled learning times will impact ability to participate
A computer capable of accessing the internet (laptop or desktop)
A reliable internet connection
A web camera and microphone (your computer may already have this built-in)
A quiet space to work
