June is National Safety Month, a time to increase safety awareness with the goal of reducing preventable injuries and deaths. This month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road, and in our homes and communities.

Through educational campaigns, resources, and community involvement, National Safety Month aims to empower individuals and organizations to prioritize safety and implement preventive measures to protect lives and promote a safer society.

 Take a moment to evaluate the safety measures in your everyday life.

 

10 Everyday Safety Tips to Keep in Mind 

 Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to shield your skin from harmful UV rays when spending time outdoors. 

  1. Stay hydrated and take breaks during physical activities to prevent heat-related illnesses. 
  2. Report pests (wasps, mice, gophers, skunks) to Maintenance. 
  3. Take care: Check the Air. 
  4. Keep a first aid kit readily available at home and familiarize yourself with basic first aid procedures.
  5. Always buckle up your seatbelt when driving or riding in a vehicle. 
  6. Keep your home well-lit and clear of tripping hazards to prevent falls. 
  7. Install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms in your home and regularly test them. 
  8. Avoid distractions while driving, such as using your phone or eating, to stay focused on the road. 
  9. Practice proper hand hygiene by washing your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
