Awards and Scholarships
AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
There are a variety of ways to access funds to pay for your post-secondary education. These include bursaries, grants, and/or loans.
ÉSFCHS/AHSFA AWARDS:
- Check out the FCHS/AHSFA Awards & Scholarship Handbook information on local school and community awards.
- Read each description carefully for criteria and selection procedure.
- Some awards require either a General Application or a Special Application
- Use the Table of Contents to locate the appropriate application form
- Either print the application form or see Ms. Davidson in room 247 for a copy
- Submit the application form to the front office by June 26 unless otherwise stated
ALEXANDER RUTHERFORD SCHOLARSHIP - Once you’ve been accepted to post-secondary and all your high school course grades are finalized, apply through Student Aid Alberta. For detailed application instructions and information, please visit Student Aid Alberta.
Rutherford Tips:
- Application Availability: The online application for the 2024–25 academic year will be available in early August.
- Upgrading Courses: If you've retaken or upgraded courses, ensure the new marks are submitted to Alberta Education and appear on your official transcript before applying.
- Application Changes: If you need to update your application (e.g., change of address or institution), log in to your Alberta Student Aid account and submit the changes under the "Upload Electronic Document" section

- Find the list of external awards on your post-secondary website
- Check out the updated Scholarship Chart that we update whenever a new scholarship comes to our attention
- External awards programs such as ALIS
- Scholarships Canada
- Head to the "Life After High School" website for more scholarships and information
