RCMP to use Westmount School for routine training exercise July 6 & 7

Foothills School Division continues to strengthen its partnerships with local law enforcement and community safety agencies. It is through our shared responsibility that we can effectively support one another and make a lasting, positive impact. Please see the below advisory from the Okotoks RCMP regarding upcoming training exercises on July 6 and 7, 2026, at Westmount School. 



Okotoks RCMP to conduct routine training exercise at Westmount School

 

Okotoks, Alta. – On July 6 and 7, 2026, throughout both days, Okotoks RCMP will be conducting scenario-based training at Westmount School. 

 

As a result of this training, the public may notice an increased police presence around Westmount School as officers practice scenarios that simulate high stress situations with active threats. 

 

During these scenarios, officers will be using sim-unition, which sounds like gunfire. There is no risk to the public with this training equipment. 

 

Okotoks RCMP thanks the Foothills School Division for their cooperation and understanding as we complete this essential training.
