Summer School 2024: 
July 2 - 29, 2024


Summer school is offered annually to students who want to: 

  • participate in new opportunities
  • take a course that doesn’t fit in their timetables during the school year  
  • understand high school learning and expectations  
  • take Math 15 to prepare for Math 10C  
  • do not prefer the traditional physical education setting 
  • have a flexible learning schedule to accommodate athletics, arts, or travel commitments.



Registration

Registration is open April 15 - June 7, 2024
We will not accept registrations after 4pm on June 7, 2024.

For Existing FSD Students:

  1. Already registered with Edsembli? Parents can Log into the Edsembli Family Portal.
  2. Select 'Register New Student' under New Registrations
  3. Select "FSD Summer School" from dropdown of school.
  4. Select your course for Summer School
    • Choose 1 from the available courses (listed below)
    • Upload your Detailed Academic Report (DAR) from MyPass (current grade 10, 11, 12 students only)
      • For instructions on how to download your DAR, visit MyPass.


For Students New to FSD:

  1. Parents, visit our online registration portal to create a new Edsembli account.
  2. Click "Create Account". Once created, you will receive an activation email. You must activate your account to proceed.
  3. Upon login, you will be directed to a registration landing page, select "FSD Summer School" from the drop-down list. Click "Open" to complete the registration form. You must complete a form for each of your children participating in Summer School.
  4. Complete all the fields and where possible, upload necessary documents.
    • Birth certificate
    • Detailed Academic Report (DAR) from MyPass (current grade 10, 11, 12 students only).
      • For instructions on how to download your DAR, visit MyPass.
  5. Click the "Submit" button at the top right of the screen. You will have the option to download a PDF of your completed form.
  6. Your registration is now complete.

What we offer

Students are limited to 1 course. 
Course fee $125 (non-refundable). 

  • Math 15 (Math 10C prep)    
        *Registration for this course is also open to grade 9 students entering grade 10 
3 credits 
  • Math 10C, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1, 30-2, 10-3, 20-3, 30-3 
 5 credits each 
  • Science 10, 20, 30, 14, 24
 5 credits each 
  • Biology 20, 30 
 5 credits each 
  • Chemistry 20, 30  
 5 credits each 
  • Physics 20, 30 
 5 credits each 
  • English Language Arts (10-1, 10-2, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1, 30-2)
 5 credits each 
  • Social Studies (10-1, 10-2, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1,30-2) 
 5 credits each 
  • Physical Education (PE) 10 & HCS 3000 (Workplace Safety Systems)
        *Registration for this PhysEd is open to grade 9 students entering grade 10 
 4 credits
  • CALM (Career and Life Management) & HCS 3000 (Workplace Safety Systems)
4 credits
  • CALM & PE & HCS 3000 (Workplace Safety Systems) - FCHS Students (Career and Life Management / Physical Education)
7 credits



How Summer School Works

Summer school is
online

Mornings: Coursework on Moodle  
Afternoons: individual/small group sessions

In-person drop-in sessions 
are offered at the 
Foothills Composite High School 
in Okotoks for local students

Class is daily
Monday to Friday

Between class time and independent coursework, students will work 
5 hours a day


 

Setting up students for success 

Students will require:  

  • A reliable internet connection. 

  • A computer capable of accessing the internet (laptop or desktop) 

  • A web camera and microphone (your computer may already have this built-in) 

  • A quiet space to work
