Why is this important? Your assistance in helping us to run the casino is essential to continue to offer programs and activities that your children enjoy.
Casino fundraisers often raise $60,000 of funding for our school.
How do I know what position to choose?
There are 6 different Volunteer positions to sign up for or you can ask to be an alternate for any or all positions. No experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
Position Descriptions
General Manager (computer literate)
-Participates in the opening and closing of the casino
-Supervises and works inside the Cash Cage
-Witnesses ‘Cash outs’ from players through the Cashier
-Fills in for the Banker when they are on a break
-Covers for all volunteer positions.
Banker (computer literate)
-Fills chip orders as required from the Gaming Floor
-Assists General Manager supervising the Cash Cage
-Witnesses ‘Cash outs’ from players through the Cashier.
Cashier (Cash Handling experience is strongly advised)
-Redeems player’s chips for cash
-Minimal amount of computer input is required.
Chip Runner
-A courier (runner) for chip orders
-Participates in the opening and closing of games
Count Room Supervisor (computer literate)
-Inputs the count from each drop box into computer
Count Room Staff (Good with working with hands)
-Open and sorts cash from drop boxes
-One person is required to input count from each drop box onto computer while another Count Room Staff runs cash through money machines
Frequently asked questions:
1) What is the $60,000 - $80,000 used for at the School?
Casino funds allow us to fund enriching programs and infrastructure at Westmount School.
-From our last casino in 2020, funds were spent on: Computers, iPads, picnic tables outside, gym screens, 2 tvs, podium, xylophones and STEM learning activities
-From past casinos, learning commons activities, water bottle filling stations and the fabulous playground your children play in daily and the list goes on!
2) Do I have to be a parent/guardian of a child at Westmount School to volunteer?
-NO We welcome anyone over 18 years old to volunteer – parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, community members, and friends. Volunteers are not eligible to work in a casino if they have been charged or convicted, within the past 5 years, of a criminal offence.
