Vertical Farming Initiative
OHS Vertical Farming Initiative
The Vertical Farm Initiative at Oilfield Highschool grows vegetables, herbs and micro-greens. The converted sea-can is fully sustainable, indoor growing unit that can be used year round. This method of agriculture aims to be net zero and free from negative environmental impacts.
This bio char vertical farm is run by our students grades seven through twelve. These students are involved in every aspect of the farm from growing crops to sales and marketing. This gives them a grounding in the technology required, the business and sales components, while stressing the environmental and community engagements. Students are learning to be great stewards of our environment and also gaining entrepreneurial skills.
This project is a not just a product of our students hard work, but also our valued sponsors, community support and continued government funding.
We are excited to continue to grow this project with your support and welcome donations and new customers.
