Fall Technology

Next fall with the new restrictions on cell phones in the classroom (see CTV News), it will be more important than ever for each child to be equipped with a learning focused Chromebook next year.  Over the past few years, with the support of students bringing their own devices, we have been able to equip all of our students in grade 5-9 with a device assigned directly to them.  As we look to the fall, we have recently needed to retire a number of older model Chromebooks, some of which were used as spares when students forgot their devices.  With this in mind, students who are bringing theirs, may not have access to spares should they forget making more important than ever to support a Bring Your Own Device policy.  

Grade 5 and up parents for the fall, please consider a Chromebook for your child for the fall from a vendor of your choice, there is no recommendation on device and prices vary by features.  Lower featured devices would likely suffice for the lower grades.  FSD has secured a vendor agreement with PC Corp and you can reach out to them directly via calgaryadmin@pccorp.com More information can be found on the attachment below from our Technology Services Department.
