Foothills Digital School (FDS) offers full-time educational online learning for students in grades 1-12. Skilled and caring staff facilitate this innovative, high-quality learning learning experience. Learners meet the outcomes as outlined in The Alberta Programs of Study.  We started as Hub@Home during the 2021-2022 school year, and have evolved into what you know today as Foothills Digital School. 

Foothills Digital School learning is designed to provide greater flexibility and choice for when and where students can access their learning.  Our school is available to all families with an Alberta residential address including returning grade 12's who are upgrading, and adult learners. Our students also include high school students within the Foothills School Division who choose to enhance their learning by enrolling in one course per semester. This allows students to access courses that may not otherwise fit in their timetable. 

We are primarily an online learning school located in Okotoks, Alberta, and we serve students across the province.  Staff are based out of a school in Okotoks,  providing an environment of collaboration and community building as well as the sharing of high quality resources.  Community and relationships are an integral part of Foothills Digital School.  As such, families can access their teachers and the principal directly through email, chat, virtually or in person during regular operating hours. 

Students from grade 1-12 work mostly asynchronously (without a teacher present)  and pacing is based on the needs of the student.  Learning occurs through Moodle, a secure online platform.  Support is accessed through the teacher through email, Moodle, or in person through scheduled meetings.

Our school continues to evolve based on data and feedback from our stakeholders. We are excited about our continued growth as a non-traditional school that meets the needs of a variety of learners in today’s society.
