WESTMOUNT WEEKLY NEWS

March 20, 2026

With only one week standing between us and Spring Break, the energy in our hallways is reaching its peak as students and staff alike prepare for a well-deserved rest. It has been a busy month of hard work and growth, and we look forward to finishing this week strong before we all take a collective breath to recharge.

NEW INFORMATION

School Council: Please join us this week for our School Council starting at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, March 24th, in the school Learning Commons. If you would prefer to join us virtually, please follow this link: https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/22819770306122?p=SDzR1xu3EwrfwcY9Kf

Paul Davis: Our Grade 3 to 5 students watched a Paul Davis video about cyber safety today. This afternoon our Grade 6 to 9 students attended a face-to-face session with Paul Davis focused on cybersecurity and digital safety. Please ask your children to share what they have learned. For an adult-focused discussion, please join us in the Westmount School gym at 6:00 PM tonight.

Planning Survey for 2026-2027: Please watch your inbox on Monday next week. We will be sending out a very brief survey regarding intentions for the 26-27 school year. This information is critical as we will be finalizing staffing numbers shortly after Spring Break.

Patrols: Congratulations! Our Westmount School Patrol Team were celebrated for their hard work and dedication to school safety on Tuesday with a pizza and pop party!

Kindness & Bullying Presentations: Our Grades 2 and 5 students participated in sessions run by Rowan House this week. Grade 2 students learned more about kindness and sharing, while our Grade 5 students learned more about bullying and being an upstander. A huge thank you to Mikaela at Rowan House for sharing these important lessons with our students.

Junior High Wellness Day: We are excited to offer a special Wellness Day for our junior high students on Friday, March 27th. The day will include special presentations from The Orenda Society focused on developing self-confidence and internal resilience. Students will also engage in wellness activities and enjoy a movie and snacks in the afternoon. Parents, please ensure you complete the consent form required for this activity. Thank you!

REMINDERS and UPDATES

No Parking: Please be aware that we have a new NO PARKING sign in our staff parking lot (at the back of the lot near the grade one doors). We have had some safety concerns and need to encourage our parents to wait in the loop or at the front of the parking lot.

Foothills School Division App: Stay connected and receive notifications directly from Westmount School by visiting the app store on your device and downloading the Foothills School Division App. Once downloaded, you will be prompted to launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account. Follow this link for further instructions: https://www.foothillsschooldivision.ca/_ci/p/17765/introducing-the-fsd-app

Planning for 2026-2027 (Registrations or Moves): Our planning for the next school year has already begun. We have been meeting with our Division Office to project student population and discuss initial staffing. If you have Kindergarten students to register, we kindly request that you do it as soon as possible to ensure we have enough staffing in place to welcome our new little wolves. Additionally, if your family is planning on moving/leaving, we would love for you to contact the office to let us know. Thank you!

Kindergarten Registration – If you have a student who will begin Kindergarten in September of 2026, registration is now open. Please go to the Registration link for more information.

Hot Lunch: Our hot lunch for next week is Booster Juice. Please ensure your orders are in by Saturday (March 21 ). Link to order: https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php.

Have a wonderful weekend, Wolves!
