Dear Westmount Families,
Welcome back to a fresh new year of learning and growth. I hope your winter break was restful and joyful, and that 2026 brings your family warmth, health, and exciting new opportunities. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with students and continuing our work together in the months ahead. As we settle back into routines, our staff is energized and ready to support every learner from Kindergarten through Grade 9. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for all you do to help our school community thrive.
NEW INFORMATION
Field Trips: We have several field trips going out this week to engage students in experiential education and learning.
- Monday: Grade 9 students to Artist Avenue to support CTF (Career & Technology Foundations) learning
- Wednesday to Friday: Outdoor Education students on a 3-day excursion to Ribbon Creek for skiing and snowshoeing
- Thursday: Grade 3 to YMCA Seton for the AMP Community Champions program which provides and inclusive and adaptive sports program for students and the opportunity to play sledge hockey in a fun, inclusive environment.
- Thursday: Grade 4 In-school field trip offered by Telus Spark Science Centre: “Paws, Claws & Stars!” This is an interactive session blending storytelling, Indigenous perspectives and Western science to explore animals, nature, and the night sky.
Professional Development: Friday, January 23rd is a Professional Development day for teachers. There will be no school for students – please mark your calendars!
Kindergarten Information/Registration Night: Thursday, January 29th is our information night for families registering students for Kindergarten in 2026-2027. The program will begin at 6:00 PM.
REMINDERS and UPDATES
ILP/BSP/Medical Plans: Just a reminder that if your child as an Individual Learning Plan, Behaviour Support Plan or Medical Plan, you received an email on December 19th with details. Please ensure you review and sign this document. Additionally, please email your child’s homeroom teacher and Learning Coach (Alicia Okonkwo) if you have questions or feedback about the plan(s).
Musical Theatre: We are in full swing, preparing for our Musical Theatre production of Spongebob: The Musical. If your child is in MT, please remember that rehearsals are scheduled every Tuesday to 5:30 PM. If you can support the creation of costumes or set design/production, please contact Miss Hannah Stobbe. Thank you for your support!
