ATM: 2024 Celebrations

ATM-20241219

Year-end celebrations are more than just a festive moment—they’re a meaningful pause to honor the past, connect with others, and prepare for what’s to come. As we reflect on 2024, we have much to acknowledge—achievements to celebrate, challenges to learn from, and milestones that inspire gratitude. This year has certainly brought its share of both!

Throughout 2024, Foothills School Division has continued to take purposeful and meaningful steps toward "placing education at the center of a flourishing community." With "flourishing" at the heart of our efforts, there have been many remarkable moments to celebrate—all anchored in our unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and to "Engagement, Support, and Success for Each Learner."

This year, FSD had the privilege of welcoming the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta to Oilfields High School, where the innovative Vertical Farm Initiative was recognized for its impact on student learning, the community, and the environment. We proudly hosted the inaugural First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Graduation Ceremony, celebrating Indigenous student success, and expanded our Students’ Matters Committee, amplifying student voices in shaping safe, caring, and inclusive school cultures. Additionally, we co-hosted the third annual Foothills Youth Mental Health Partnership Summit alongside community organizations and organized a division-wide learning conference on building a trauma-informed culture—efforts that enrich supports and services for all learners. These highlights are just a glimpse of the excellence taking place across our Division.

As we close this year, it’s a time to foster gratitude—for the progress we’ve made, the people who have supported us, and the experiences that have shaped our journey. Together, we’ve crafted high-quality learning experiences and ensured welcoming, inclusive environments that reflect and celebrate the diversity of our learners.

Year-end gatherings offer a chance to strengthen connections with family, friends, colleagues, and our broader community. They remind us of the importance of shared experiences, lifting our spirits and bringing moments of joy that can carry us forward.

So, as we embrace the end of this year, I encourage you to find a celebration that speaks to you—whether it’s enjoying a concert, attending a gathering, or sharing a special moment with loved ones. These experiences fill our hearts and souls, setting the stage for a bright and flourishing 2025.

Happy New Year to you all!
