🏡 Executive Functioning Tip of the Week for Families: Helping Kids Stay Focused
"Focus isn’t just for school—it starts at home."
Helping your child build focus is one of the best ways to support their learning. Here are a few simple ways families can help strengthen this skill at home:
- Create a Homework Routine: A consistent time and quiet space for homework helps signal the brain it’s time to focus.
- Use a Timer Together: Try setting a 20-minute timer for focused work, followed by a short break. It makes tasks feel more doable!
- Limit Distractions: Turn off TVs and put phones away during homework time—even for adults. Modeling focus matters!
- Celebrate Effort: Praise your child for staying on task, even in small ways. Focus grows with encouragement.
🧠 With a little structure and support, families can make a big difference in helping kids develop lifelong focus skills.
Closing Thoughts
As we head into the weekend, I hope you and your family find time to enjoy the beautiful warm weather. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a backyard barbecue, or simply soaking up the sunshine, take a moment to recharge and connect.
Wishing you a restful and sunny weekend!
